In order to provide a more recent and a more immediate example of what could happen to the many undercover agents and armed men and women. Occurred few years ago where someone had released the information and actions of several undercover United States agents who were operating in several countries. Upon the release of the information, several of the agents have mysteriously disappeared and have not been confirmed as being captured or killed in action. This in mind the release of even more sensitive data could be released by this site called wikileaks the information they posses could threaten world peace as we know it. Even enraging countries with thoughts that another country might be performing espionage in their nation. In turn these countries may decide war upon the other country in retaliation for the other countries efforts.
Although the information that the site has already released is minor compared to the more important documents revealing the incidents the country has committed. It is a great risk to assume that they may not be in possession of top secret documents that could compromise global security. Friday, December 24, 2010
is the world on the brink of WW3?
With the forthcoming of the recent events with release of several confidential documents about the U.S and its recent actions in foreign countries. I believe that government secrets should be kept under lock and key, I despise these people who simply say they are trying to create a better government for the global society. I believe the information may, depending on the topic of the document may be harmful to both a countries national security, and the safety of its armed men and women along with undercover agents. On several occasions. In all decency there are secrets that must be kept to prevent global turmoil and panic. In a speech given be the former U.S president Clinton. He stated "there are secrets I know that if revealed would leave the Earth in state of panic and turmoil.” To me his speech tells me that there are some things that should remain secret in order to as Clinton said to protect the public and the keep order on the planet. Take into account this scenario, for example” we the United States of America are in the process of developing a new super weapon that would pale in comparison to the destructive power of nuclear/hydrogen ICBM’s possessed by china, Russia and several other countries. If the secretive development of the project were compromised before completion, these countries may threaten war if development continues. Keep in mind this would increase tensions between nations and even enrage the public for example the United States Star Wars space project. Which was a program meant to place orbital platforms in space armed with nuclear missiles for retaliation if the Soviet Union were to launch a preemptive strike. Where citizens across the globe rose up in rallies and demonstrations to force the United States to cease the development of the space project. To what end the people around the globe would succeeded in ceasing the development of project Star Wars.
U.S and Germany
I predict the United states tone was one of anger and seriousness, but it is also what I believe the spark the U.S government was looking for to get into a war with Germany, especially after they discovered a German transmission to Mexico to urge a western war.
for the Germans their response to the sinking of the Lusitania and U.S declaration of war was as follows American peace was a deception, fore all aboard those vessels were warned of the the danger of unrestricted submarine warfare occurring in their path of travel. even the government was warned about the war taking place in Atlantic ocean.

Torture is Torture
in a time of war the government should be able to do what ever is necessary to protect the lives of both U.S soldiers and U.S citizens. inevitable by the laws of the Geneva convention these insurgents should be respected as pow. in essence they should not be mistreated, unfortunately when the information is of high value that may save the lives of the soldiers and other civilians. I believe that they must do whatever is necessary to acquire the information in order to preserve the life of our men and civi's. unfortunately the global community would frown upon the interrogation methods like water boarding for example. some of the long term affects is, in doing so it would create something for the people of the country(where ever they may be)to rally behind and thus we would create a stronger more determined enemy. take into account the attack on Pearl Harbor, where after after the battle soldiers would rally behind the war cry of "Remember December the 7th!!" Which creates motivation and a will to avenge the fallen. the same applies to an effect of improper interrogation, that once the people catch wind of the interrogation they may in turn rise against us.

War games
Like many Others in this country and across the world play war games like call of duty, battlefield etc.. Lately there has been some interesting debate in laws restricting the sale of violent video games. Now even with the rating system based on content it seems to still be insufficient
Like many of the others I too play Call of duty, Battlefield etc... and do enjoy them but never take them seriously like some may do. While some say such games shouldn’t exist at all due to violence and such, I believe that they should exist because if they were suddenly banned then there would be a violation of rights. In other words I support their continued existence and I also favor enforcing the prevention of sales of such violent games to minors. This would help prevent them from acquiring the game as easily as they do today. Several years ago and still today they HAVE to check for photo ID, Sadly this is heavily unenforced and instead9 focus the problem of controlling torrents and protecting the company’s profit . Take for example what happened I believe several years ago when a store teller allowed a minor to purchase about 2 M Rated games without checking for ID and was subsequently arrested for the crime. Now few care about and think of it as a minor thing and simply unimportant. Sadly it is usually irresponsible parents that purchase such games for them that MAY care little for their state of mind, and advancement. A superb example of this is person I used to know well
He used to play games like metal gear solid, before he was even 10. Now several years later I noticed his subliminal l imitations and even in speech he would sometimes go back to the game.
However in Real warfare the games do not even pale in comparison to the battlefield for like the media the games to are watered down or even exaggerated in varying content. Because in real war you only have one life to give and lose for your country, in comparison in the game you have as many lives as you need and never run out. In the games you feel no fear of death or loss in reality you may lose only a fictional number that in reality is unimportant for your survival by nature we are a violent people constantly bickering with each other unfortunately the same cannot be said for the soldiers of the battlefield where they face life and death every day from enemies that cannot be distinguished from civilians. These brave and honorable men and women sacrifice everything they own, including their lives, once they are gone they are gone there is no restart, no extra lives other than the one and only one you and I have. There was an old quote made by a soldier who fought in world war and invaded the beaches of Normandy , it was “you couldn’t think about getting killed it’s either you got them or they got you.” This tells me and everyone else that there was No in-between, No other choice. Sadly these games do little to deter war and the violence it leaves in its wake, because like for thousands of years the human race has continued to develop better and more effective ways of killing each other.
War never changes
During the 1st world war a majority of casualties were caused be the many advancements in technology, like as shown in the video machine gun's and the appearance of other automatic or semi-automatic weapons. However at the time one of the most feared weapons of the war were the use gas and flame weapons which were highly effective at killing the soldiers. Unfortunately these pale in comparison from losses from their own trench, for many of the trench's of the war were "contaminated" and filthy which claimed a majority of wounded soldiers, and even among healthy men disease would spread. since many of the men would actually live in the trenches and watch the rats that would run through the trench's and have been rumored to have eaten "the dead of dieing soldiers At the same time the was actually a form of disease and a plague very similar to flu and is related to our generation's swine flu.
Ace combat
During air combat the pilots would have to rely on the maneuverability of their aircraft and strength of the of its production. When being an air combat pilot of world war 1, I thought that these men must have a strategy to overtake his opponent using his planes advantages and even its own disadvantage. Sadly though they knew little in the way of strategy with exceptions of the red baron, and the Lafitte espadrille(French ace squadron). for the average pilot their thoughts i believe would be ones of survival doing what every he can to win (which is sometimes what killed them) on the other hand I think they were afraid of the enemy squadrons and the AA-gun's and were constantly watching for the signs of those to foe's. Even the fear of death would loom in their head's, Ex. while your plane is taking fire the average pilot would begin wonder how much more could it take and wondering if the fire would at least kill him instantly.

Hogan's Hero's
The Movie of the imperialism that I have chosen is sadly not a Movie but a TV Show called Hogan’s Hero’s. Which takes place in World War 2 in Nazi POW camp run by a very“ Sad form of a commander” named commandant Klink and his unintelligent head sergeant, sergeant Schulz. The allied command had placed Hogan and several other agents into the camp to provide acts of sabotage to the Nazi war machine from in the camp called stallage 13 from which no prisoner has ever escaped.
In the show Hogan’s Hero’s commandant Klink appears as a cowardly and demoted Luftwaffe commander reassigned to prison duty after displays of incompetence. The underlying theme is the fact that Hogan is able to manipulate the commandant into doing what he wishes but at the same time making sure their true intentions are not known to the commandant. In doing so Hogan is oppressing commandant Klink into doing what is necessary to complete the group’s goals letting access certain things. In the show Hogan and his men’s base of operations is located under stallag thirteen. While Hogan is more talented in the way of special operations or spy work, which would make him stronger both in persuasive ability and tactics to emplace his own intentions. While also backed by the Allied command with information on targets moving in enemy territory. In the garrison stationed at the Stallag 13 are being constantly deceived from the true operations of the camp which leaves them unsuspecting and vulnerable for the Hogan and his saboteurs to manipulate them. Take Sergeant Schulz for example while the unsuspecting and unintelligent sergeant would unknowingly provide them with useful bits of information and German marks from gambling with Schulz and in many ways using his incompetence to their advantage like in the episode where stallag 13 was sent a shipment of dynamite to destroy high priority buildings. Schulz was the “volunteer” driver of the truck that would carry the dynamite to the hidden storage areas. To discover the location of the dynamite Hogan was able to persuade Schulz into providing the location of a map of the storage areas. Which Hogan was using his abilities to oppress Schulz’s situation with the driving what he called the “Suicide truck” Hogan obtained the location of the map. Hogan Was able to deceive the SS commander using their unsuspecting position as POW’s and then posing as fire inspectors to go into where they held the dynamite and the map with commander. After tricking those with smoke grenades to which the Nazi believed there was an actual fire and at the same time stole the map to the areas. This display’s creating and taking control of the situation for their own advantage to get what the need with out harming anyone and leaving no suspicion after saving the SS commander and stealing his maps of the region. In this case the Nazi’s were the one’s being out smarted and overtaken even when they do not even realize it. Which is what imperialism is in this article, taking over and dominating on a mental level and manipulative level.

yellow mellow
Today Yellow journalism is used primarily in the news to gain views and rile the public up with something that normally is not very serious. Even in the business area to lure people into purchasing their products and services with deceptive advertisements when in reality they truly know very little. An extremely good example would be the H1N1 or swine flu, after the news's companies used the threat of a global pandemic to rile the public and attract attention to their news station. When in fact the normal seasonal flu killed far more people than the swine flu did in the course of the year. During the Spanish American war the headline "great sea victory for America vengeance for the Maine begun" was when the news headlines knew little about what happened in the ocean and used the Maine as a railing point to rile the public.
post cold war
The selected article is from a war which occurred in 2008 between Russia and the the country of Georgia.
The reason for choosing this war was because of the ending of the war which ended with the weaker country of Georgia as the victor. After a military contractor withdrew support to the Russian military and military vehicles after apparently some of their facilities were attacked by the people they support. in this case it was an economic form of imperialism, since both countries were equally involved in their economies and several contractors decided to withdraw support.

life of a canal builder
Dec. 1905
Just arrived at camp to start the production on the this canal the Americans want to build, the first thing I see is on my in was three old wagons. The first was filled with the dynamite for blasting, but the other two wagons where for the bodies which are already being filled at the moment. As I spoke to the Foreman for the section he told me that they had just lost three men to malaria and said that I am to fill their replace them immediately. when I get to my work station I am told that I will have to venture to cliff face to deliver some of dynamite to the workers farther along. as i made my way farther up the canal found after speaking with several of the young men working their that a few months ago a man with my same job dropped his load of dynamite, disintegrating him instantly i was told that all they found were his blood drenched hat what was left of his boots. I have a feeling it is going to be along stay in this deceivingly beautiful place.

the real monster to others?
While the site shows several indications of the school of the Americas, i believe that such an organization is needed so that, for U.S interest in the region, we will not have to sacrifice our own soldiers for the cause. Instead allow them to gain their own independence instead of us just taking over like we did with Iran which was a mistake that costs more and more with every passing day. but at the same time i feel it is also a risk that may come back to haunt the U.S since in training these people in sniper operations, commando raids etc... This information could also end up in the wrong hands and some insurgents may try to sell "their" services unknown to their Co's at the the school AAmericas to be used to train terrorist cell's which in turn may strike the U.S.It may also cause major repercussions to the countries that the reside in, causing uneccary loss of life, and poverty.

Blogging good or bad?
In this final weekly article, for this quarter I will First discuss some of the things I feel that the helps with for example it is better than copying straight from the board and studying from paper, some of the advantages of blogging instead of writing on a piece of paper. However there are some things that can become problematic when blogging and sending the data to a web site on a weekly basis. Other than that I will discuss some of my personal feelings about the idea of blogging on a weekly basis.
The Idea of blogging is in reality a really wonderful idea because if you are like most people of this generation and this day in age you probably use the computers a lot for purchasing, work, organization, and research takes advantage of the computer’s enormous abilities. Since more people than ever before are using computers to transmit ideas and type. Blogging would come like second nature for most people since a large amount of people already do blog on a daily basis and are bound to be more likely to turn in assignments such as a blog post instead of slacking off. With that being said a majority of people in several studies showed that the average student is more likely to do the assignments on the computer than having to hand write the assignments. Also for people and students who have poor hand writing, like myself prefer to type the dailies or any other assignments since it is usually a lot neater than hand writing the assignment. This also helps the teacher as well allowing him/ her to be able to actually read the students work without having to interpret their hand writing, and making grade processing faster. One of the advantages I enjoy about the ideas is the fact that you don’t have to wait long to get it to the teacher, as before you had to wait until you had the period to turn the work in which there is a slight chance you may lose the work, and have to redo it completely or simply cannot find it due to poor organization. Blogging online eliminates that barrier in the way that the data is stored online and is always there never to become misplaced. Blogging also helps keep a record of our work which the student could use in an application for college or job to show you ability. One of the things I like about is that if you accidentally make a few mistakes and didn’t correct them you can go back and edit the text you entered even if you have already posted the assignment.
However there are also a few problems with blogging and some of which a very serious dealing the privacy and security and personal issues. For example one of the things that I dislike about it is that the blogs we post can be seen by more than just the teacher alone the entire blogger community is able to see you work. For some students who may post blogs with personal information about them selves or other people sometimes revealing very personal issues to the world. Although this can be easily fixed by some of the moderators that watch over the site, at the same time there is also the risk of a total site crash due to viruses or overloads of data that could damage the site and possibly your blogs on the site as well, possibly even transmitting the virus to your computer. The best way to defend against this disadvantage is to simply back up your blog one your own computer to serve as reference and install antivirus software to your computer.
There is another barrier to blogging as well while taking into account that there are some students that do not poses a computer. However there are also some that have computer but lack Internet access or they cannot afford it. Another disadvantage to blogging would be the lack of the certain software to access blogger.com.
While there are many advantages to using blogger, I feel that the risks outweigh the possible problems, since most of the issues can be prevented very easily through planning, preparation, and awareness
My favorite blog topic
Probably my favorite blog topic would have to be the weekly article on the truth of American cowboy, and how Hollywood portrayed them. I like the article simply because it is something i already know a great deal about because of prior background knowledge. However it is also because want to know more about how they really lived not how they were portrayed to be from Hollywood. which turned out to be the exact opposite in several cases than Hollywood portrayed. It was also interesting learning some of the things from some of the cowboy diaries from their time period. To which I found that they sometimes weren't always the heros we thought them to be which is truly ironic in comparsion to Hollywoods portrayal
typing instead of writing?
During this year since I have learned about blogging for school, I discovered the significance of the privilege to instead do home work on the computer instead of simply writing it down. It also helps me save time meaning time management allowing me to do multiple things at once instead of having to just do one assignment at a time. However even when I am bored when I am one the computer or take break for facebook for example, I am more motivated to doing it since it wouldn't require getting out paper or a text book. I tend to remember more once i type instead of writing it because it is some thing me and alot of other students do. In that effect it also helps me study for things like test, quiz's, etc... since most of the work is accurate and based of what is taught in class or background knowledge.

a workmans life
From the song the factory workers worked long hour almost seemingly endless amounts of work. they would work form the morning to the night with little or no break to help them, they would receive the minimum amount of sleep allowed. Often the life a worker was hard in the textile mills being forced to so endlessly which would not help the fingers of the workers quickly tiring them out which would sometimes have dangerous consequences. From the song the factory owners and or mangers would consider them easily replicable cheap labor. With the workers receiving as little money as possible, which would prevent the from paying rent and forcing them to work even harder and longer to make more money to sustain themselves. When the writer talks about death and how it reminds him of his rag covered self with no emotion no thought just work.
The immigrants
immigrants coming to Elise Island first had the reality of leaving their homeland for something they thought was better. from the photos a good number of immigrants seemed to take a sigh of relief that their journey was finally over. For some it was a time of celebration for reaching what called the land of plenty, with roads paved of gold. However this celebration was because of the journey they endured, a majority of immigrants traveled in what is called steerage which is the most crowed area on ship usually located near the bottom of the ship. where the immigrants would stay with little air to breath in a very claustrophobic area where they would stay for weeks traveling the Atlantic ocean. upon arrival they would see the mighty statue of liberty greeting them on the way into the harbor and soon their trip will finally be over, the sight would inspire the immigrants and stir them into excitement, Once they arrive they would be filled with excitement for arriving in the great United states the land of plenty, where they would be greeted with open arms.

GunSmoke?
While in the show called gunsmoke, uncle finny, many stereotypes are present including the stereotype of the desperate man willing to do anything even sell out his own family for a small amount of cash which were presented as two brothers. Then the stereotype of the old man who is a classic in Hollywood terms of an old man that sleeps all day and drinks mostly whiskey and almost incapable of helping himself. However the lazy criminal is also in the video that is who is usually the mastermind of the robbery never willing to get his own hands dirty.Along the deputy officer who was also in many of the scenes, He was not the most brilliant person but was still able to solve the problem, and also a very easy puzzled since he did not have the education to learn to read or write. Finlay the banker willing to make money any way possible Even selling to a poor business contract with little more than promises to make money.
The great american cowboy
While Hollywood western icon john Wayne was considered widely as the great cowboy defining the shows he was in with his ability. Too many of the people who grew up watching john Wayne in the 50’s it was not actual life of a cowboy. The actual life of a cowboy was hard and dangerous. While Hollywood portrayed them as good honest people, who always do the right thing, it is honestly untrue. In the article I will talk about many of the ways of which in 1800’s cowboy lived and worked.
In actuality the great American cowboy was born from the now greatly extinct cattle drives that required a high endurance level to stand up to since you literately had to travel 100’s of miles with few settlements nearby. You had to pack your own provisions to last you the journey and along with your steed (horse), you had to severely ration those provisions. Along with the costly risk of mistake of getting lost which could have severe penalties, including death by various means? Since in that time there was no GPS only primitive maps which could result in becoming lost in the area. If you are a greenhorn as the y where called before actually being called a cowboy.
Of the dangers one is the risk of being blindsided by one of the many creatures of the ol’ west. Along with the danger of actually having to herd the cattle and keep them on course proved to be quite a challenge since some breeds of cattle where known to stampede or run over a cowboy. This could not be done alone, in essence you hear of cowboys traveling in what is known as gangs or groups. They have to spend weeks if not months crossing the great expanse of the west, herding the cattle to their destination usually the closest train depot located from Kansas and eastward .
Most of the cowboys of the ol’ west carried some sort of firearm usually a hand gun depending on how much they are being paid and what they could afford .The reason for the need is presented by the dangers, such as the encounters with hostile Indians which may turn deadly. However they also faced the danger of outlaw gangs which were known to prey upon the cattle herds for additional cash and or supplies and valuable belongings. Even some of the Cowboys them selves where not always on the right side of the law. Sometimes thieving from some of the little towns that dotted the west, and sometimes by orders of the cattle companies which at the time where some of the most powerful people in small communities. Would order them to steal cattle from a rival company or steal them from one of the drives the companies ran. In some cases they would kill the entire cowboy’s gang in the victims companies cattle drive or leave the m with few if any supplies, during the time there was sickness called Texas fever that affected the cattle and killed large amounts of the cattle. In response several cattle town became hostile against the cowboys usually farmers trying to protect their herd from the disease, in some incidents the farmers would actually kill the cowboys if they entered their land since most of the cow towns were under quarantine from the Texas Fever
However the life of a cow boy may have been hard and while many had succumbed to the vast distances and obstacles, and other dangers of the west. They became living legends on their own in the need for adventure, since in the 1800’s many people wanted to become a “cowboy” in the search for adventure
Gaming is educational? who would have thought
While many people would disagree that games can be educational, I agree in most cases but it only depends on what kind of game you play for ex. Call of duty (original ) can give an understanding of a soldier fighting in world war two, with the older ones anyway, while games with no accurate historacal events such as final fantasy would teach nothing other than the game. The same applies to oregon trail where players expierence the similiar choices they make and see how it will affect their avatar in the future of the game. In many studies by multiple people, it proved that from children to teens will remeber the content presented in the games even slight ones and when presented on a test would score higher

the first weekly article
The early years after the civil war was a period known as the reconstruction period. It was the time to help rebuild the union and the damages caused by the civil war. During the period blacks or any former slave’s where given freedom from the chains of servitude and were given rights by the U.S government including the right to vote. However many of the former confederate states where against this and passed a law known simply as the black codes which limited the rights of blacks in certain states. Despite this even the north or union and the former confederate states had large areas and locations segregated including schools. Hard to believe the U.S government supported it. At this time the blacks were being disgraced and discouraged by the racism even though the amendments said all men were created equal. They were not treated equal they simply separated the inferior from the superior. In the end even though, they were free, they still were paid much less than a white worker for the same job. In the south they were restricted from voting for political candidates, even running for small offices was not allowed due to the black codes. The former slaves were also treated unfairly during an agreement called “share cropping” which occurs after the civil war. Which I believe was actually worse than slavery, having a majority of the victims having almost no profit margin, if any at all. The reason was that the white landowners loaned them their equipment and had to give 50% of the crops grown to the land owner. Above all else the white land owners also controlled their life. They told what to do and when to do it. For instance they told them when to eat. Something that I found that was quite offensive was that for a small percentage actually had them pay the land owner for not feeding them selves or their families.
Similar to the 1960’s civil rights movement, the fact that blacks were restricted to black schools and so on except in the military when the barracks became desegregated. The civil movement started when blacks realized their true potential and ability which actually occurred during the Second World War with things such as the Tuskegee airmen with one of the best kill to death ratio of the entire European theatre. When the black population realized they could do things just as well as the white population. Which lead them to demand more freedom and a better life, which was difficult because the universal belief that the blacks were inferior to the white race and the segregation was in effect just like in the post civil war times. The key thing is that in both time periods blacks were treated poorly and unfairly, although the situation was worse during the reconstruction after the civil war because of the widespread poverty and segregation they lived in. However in the late 1800’s segregation was accepted by the black community because they had not realized their potential or were not educated enough until the 1950’s- 1960’s. During the time they gained a greater desire to receive an adequate education like the majority of the white population.
While both time periods where similar in many ways for example, the segregation of the people and the treatment of blacks as the inferior race. Even though they had freedoms those freedoms were limited at best and usually like the bus incident in the 1960’s their rights would have to second to what the white population had wanted, like not giving up seat on the bus. While before in the 1800’s it was tolerated by a majority of the community, when the supposedly inferior race would do nothing. Until they evolved to resist and strive for civil freedom.
the slave's life better or worse?
During a period after the civil war know as the reconstruction era former slaves of the southern states were given new rights, including the ability to own private property and vote in some elections. To the best efforts of the southern states that had tried to prevent the blacks from voting, created something known as the black codes which limited the blacks in many ways. however they could also continue living on the land they once slaved on, since the it was all they knew at the time. Those plantations where still owned by white landlords but with only a few minor differences, like paying rent to the land owner for tools and land to farm and live on, in the end they were almost treated worse during the share cropping time paying for everything to the land owner, and just like before had told them how to run their lives. In some cases the former slaves would have to pay the landlord for not feeding their family, which by all means is ridiculous, along with the fact that most of them could hold only a few jobs if they are not on a plantation, although they get paid they end up just using to pay the loans they have and like most of the time they were mostly in debt. The ones on the outside meaning they are not working on a plantation because of the reconstruction were able to run for low level offices and hold some jobs but they were still limited in part to segregation
paying the south for their loss?
I believe that it granting the south amnesty was the right way to go, because if the union had actually instead punished them it would have made the country as a whole weaker. Possibly setting the spark for 2nd civil war due to unfair treatment, but that depend's on the severity of the punishment. Take for example what happened to Germany after ww1 and the Treaty of Versailles, which was the igniter for the for the takeover of Germany by the Nazi party and eventually starting World War 2. Which was the affect of harsh conditions of which they had to follow. However the amnesty idea also helps regain the trust of some of the people of the south and allowing them to return to the union. It also served as a way to be sure that the confederate polictions would stay loyal to the union and not choose break away again.

Why so Sterotypical?
I believe humanity as a whole likes or naturally points out physical characteristics even personality traits and habits.Society likes to create international stereotypes to classify the different races such as Asians then substerotypes such as Vietnamese, Korean etc... Becuase people use it to base a judgment on that person by the way they look when in fact they may be the complete opposite of what you think. Humanity likes to take the easy way, so they separate from each other. A difference which can often lead to to conflict such as the Holocaust in Uganda, and Hilters Holocaust which they targeted certain traits of the race ex. large noses= Jew in the Nazi eye's, the event also spawned a stereotype that if your German your a Nazi.
lincoln not so honost?
I believe that Lincoln was focused on preserving the union becuase the signs of succession were nearing. That if he lost the south they may face serious food shortages along with a great loss in his leadership ability which leads to doubt. The north would also lose a large portion of the work force along with public support. However it was also just to keep the states uninited under one flag. Even though he is known for being the one who freed the slaves and the signer of the emacnation proclamation what he actually wanted to do was keep the country unified at all costs. However he actually thought of the slave race as inferior as well as the south, I feel that he used the proclamation as a means to encourage slaves from the south to head north which would bolster numbers.

Who would want to forget about history?
I believe that history no matter how bad it was, or how badly it would hurt the countries reputation, it should never be forgotten. For example the U.S surrender of the Philippines to the Japanese and the largest single capture of U.S forces in history along with the Bataan death march. It is comparable to denying that the soldiers that had surrendered had never existed and the men who were killed in duty and for survival, died without recognition. Even in the country that had experienced such a tragedy should show the way they improved themselves to overcome that error and prevent it from occurring again.

why do we study history
The subject of history has long been debated as something that does not apply to some students.
While most do not see the true importance of history, without the past we would lose many cultures and traditions. On the other hand it allows us to analyze the past so that previous mistakes such as the sneak attack at pearl harbor and world war 2 will never happen again. It even teaches us lessons of our past leaders and tragic events like the Kennedy assassination and 9/11. allows us to improve society by looking to the past. as some say, "to see the future you must look to the past".
